Keeping you pool filter clean is a critical part of having clean clear water with algae free walls.
Time and time again we meet people who have no clue what is inside that big tan cylinder next to their pool equipment! Many pool owners have never been educated and have no idea how often pool filters are supposed to be cleaned, or how dirty they really get! Furthermore, pool owners often wonder why they have dirty cloudy water, how come algae is growing on their walls, and why white DE Powder is spraying out their return jets.
Pool Maintenance Tip: Pool filters need to be cleaned at least 2-3 times per year.
Why? Because a clean pool filter is critical to keep your water clear with good water circulation.
Think of it this way…What happens if you choose to mow your lawn once a month vs. every week? It bogs your mower down and takes forever! How long will your car last if you choose to change your oil every 10,000 -15,000 miles, vs. 3,000-4,000 miles as recommended?
Yes. You can try and get away with doing it once a year, but you are putting a strain on your pump, risking damage to your DE Grids or Cartridges. It is much easier to clean the filters every 3-4 months vs waiting until they become a disgusting mess. By the way… if you have alage in your pool…your most likely to have 10 times as much algae in your filter!
Back-washing a DE Filter only removes about 50-60% of the dirt and old DE Powder, so all filters need to be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly.
Many pool owners are comfortable doing this themselves, however many of our customers tell us they forget or are simply too busy or intimidated by this project.
If you need some help we would be happy to make an appointment to make sure your pool filters are clean and happy.
