Simply put...Pools need a clean filter!
If neglected, they can be clogged with dirt, algae hair, body oil..sunscreen..
take a close look...is this what you want cleaning your pool water?
Backwashing is not enough to clean the filters...
We reccoemend removing and cleaning the filter at least two or three times a year keep your water sparkling clear!
Having a clean filter is a critical part of having clean clear water with algae free walls.
Time and time again we meet people who have no clue what is inside that big tan cylinder next to their pool equipment! They have no idea how often they are supposed to be cleaned, or how dirty they really get! Yet they wonder why they have dirty cloudy water, algae on their walls, or white DE Powder spraying out their return jets.
Simply put: Filters need to be cleaned at least 2-3 times per year…
Why? Because a clean filter is critical to keep your water clear with good water circulation.
Think of it this way…What happens if you choose to mow your lawn once a month vs. every week? It bogs your mower down and takes forever! How long will your car last if you choose to change your oil every 10,000 -15,000 miles, vs. 3,000-4,000 miles as recommended..
Yes..you can try and get away with doing it once a year, but you are putting a strain on your pump, risking damage to your DE Grids or Cartridges. It is much easier to clean the filters every 3-4 months vs waiting until they become a disgusting mess. By the way..if you have alage in your pool…you have 10 times as much algae in your filter!
Back-washing a DE Filter only removes about 50-60% of the dirt and old DE Powder. So all filters need to be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly
Many pool owners are comfortable doing this themselves, however many of our customers tell us they forget or are simply to busy or intimidated by this project. If you need some help we would be happy to help.
Our normal cost to clean a filter is $110 plus tax, occasionally we find broken or damaged DE grids or cartridges, but we will always consult you first and give you an estimate.
